#PostParisFashion began with TOM* reviews in February, so I was looking forward to return this season. We’ll get to surprising success stories, notable absences and repeat offenders shortly, but let’s start with… Best-in-Show! I continue to fight my frightful habit of pre-viewing collections inside my bs-cluttered head before I actually see any clothes. Philippines-born, southern Cali-based, young bridal couturier? Hope for gaudy, brace for garish, then get swept off the feet… KENNETH BARLIS, I do.
You came into my life to right so many wrongs. I’ve lamented lack of viable colors in menswear, DONE. I’ve fumed over discomfort-of-power aesthetics that dominate formal canon, GONE. I’ve wished for more daredevilry in urban wardrobes, DELIVERED. The retro-cuts, the futuro-colors, the boldness and playfulness of vision. Love at first suit.
