Another LGBTQ+ Pride season has wrapped. Here are half-dozen recent rainbow-adjacent music videos that made me go wow-now on fashion styling. Who should I see next?! Tell me 🙂
Zolita – Ashley
Relationships get messy. Designer Jarrett Edward and stylist Kate Emerick kept the wardrobe on point for this “drama at the altar” take on queer soulmateship complete with a fashion glow up for the characters.
Here is a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making-of a style-the-beat video:
Chilly Gonzales – Cut Dick
Come for the title, stay for the beat. Queerness as an aesthetic is … a chef dog slicing phallic veggies to a saxophone solo. Stylist Francis Salvator deserves cut flowers for keeping “a straight face” on this one 🙂
G Flip – Be Your Man
Androgyny to queerness is like hydrogen to the oxygen (H2O): gets us wet & thirsty. Branden Ruiz styles this rock prom with requisite emotional intelligence. The drummer’s red gloves are a brilliant touch!
Rico Dalasam – 30 Semanas
Brazil is in the (fashion) house! This video came last summer, but the black-and-white styling by Aneco Oblangata goes so harddd we can’t get over it a year later. The one pink look elevates the vibe to iconic.
Salvador Sobral – Pedra Quente
This video is so camp … a delightful cabaret act from a talented ally. The live late-night TV “disaster” is styled by Rita Ferreira Barosa with looks from her Handmade in Portugal slow fashion brand Ispari.
MND3GMA – Tayong Dalawa
Aliens love denim! Pearls are a universal love language. Intergalactic stylist Lyn Alumno does a stellar job manifesting fashion beyond binaries, polarities, deities, etc. How awesome was the accessories budget?!
Meanwhile … fly your own (rainbow) flag, stay tuned, stay styled!

Kylie Minogue – Padam Padam
It’s everywhere right now, so might as well be here, too. Stylist Bradley Kenneth took a break from styling Miley Cyrus to outfit this Pride’s ear-worm in 50 shades of red with Natalie Berwanger styling the dancers.
